Labour Day Weekend Recital St John’s Flinders

INVENTI ENSEMBLE
Under the direction of Ben Opie the strings and woodwinds of Inventi will present Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony. Completed in 1917, his Symphony No 1 in D major was inspired by the symphonies of Haydn. This arrangement of the work captures the playful spirit of the original.
The program also includes a world premiere of a work commissioned by St John’s, inspired by the new David Wright stained glass window. Melbourne composer Caerwen Martin has responded with Women of the Earth.
