Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

You will recently have received a letter from the Parish regarding “parish giving” and our role in contributing to our Church and all that it does.

We are all aware of how much everyday costs increase – and in many cases how our income does not – in fact in many cases this decreases.

In an ideal world we would, as a parish, like to distribute more of our income to worthwhile charities but as our giving decreases, so does our ability to  contribute outside the church.

As a parish we are blessed by having dedicated volunteers to staff our Op Shops, help out at Book Fairs and St. John’s Fete.  Without these activities we couldn’t survive.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our parish giving increased so much that our Op Shop income could be donated to others less well off than us!

Of course, giving is not limited to money! We all have talents and with today’s pew sheet you will find a “Talent sheet” to fill in and return. This is to indicate how else you can support the Parish of Flinders with Balnarring.  Please take some time to consider the way you can help St John’s and St. Mark’s continue to grow in our community – by

  1. regularly reviewing the level of your financial contribution
  2. consider making a regular contribution directly into the churches’ bank account
  3. completing the “talent sheet” enclosed with today’s pew sheet

We appreciate this may not be possible for some – all we ask is that you prayerfully consider what you can do.
